D-mine® Pump

The D-mine® Pump can hold more Apomorphine than the D-mine® Pen and is used when you might need a continuous dose of Apomorphine throughout your day.

Your healthcare professional is able to set multiple different doses dependent on how much Apomorphine you need at a specific time of the day – this may be at a reoccurring time where you struggle with ‘OFF’ periods.

The D-mine® Pump has been designed to have little to no impact on your daily life and facilitate you in doing your normal activities. When you receive your D-mine® Pump, you will find comprehensive instructions inside. Your
D-mine® Care nurse advisor can also provide additional support.

Common FAQ

I have a problem with my D-mine® Pump?

For any troubleshooting or technical support relating to your device please call 0800 254 0175 (Monday-Sunday: 07h00-22h00). Outside of these hours, leave a message and you will receive a call back the next day. Or you can email ever.pharma@nhs.net. Charging my D-mine® Pump?

The batteries within the D-mine® Pump are removeable and will need to be recharged. To remove the rechargeable battery from the D-mine® Pump, slide the battery downwards and place into the charging slot on your docking station done so by a horizontal sliding motion. Once charged, place back within your
D-mine® Pump.  If this is the first time you are using the D-mine® Pump, ensure that both batteries are fully charged.

How do I wear the D-mine® Pump?

You should have no problem wearing the D-mine® Pump in your daily activities.  To wear the D-mine® Pump, place the pump in the carrying bag. Make sure that the infusion set is pointing upwards. Completely close the carrying bag.  Check to ensure that the opening for pressing the bolus button is accessible. The bolus button is always accessible during emergency situations. The carrying case allows you to wear the Pump across your upper body or thread through belt loops.  The opening on the carrying bag should never point downwards because the pump could fall out.
Ensure the infusion line is not tangled as this could cause an occlusion alarm (for more information see troubleshooting guide). If this happens, stop the infusion, disconnect the infusion set from your body and remove the rechargeable battery.

Is the D-mine® Pump waterproof?

Avoid contact of the D‑mine® pump with water.
Therefore, you should take off your pump when you:

  • bathe or shower
  • go swimming

If your D‑mine® Pump comes into contact with water, dry any dampened areas of the Pump and reservoir compartment with a dry cotton cloth or paper towel.  Never strike the device against a hard surface to remove water. Inspect the connection to the reservoir for any water droplets. Inspect the pump and rechargeable battery for cracks or damage. Restart the device and monitor the start-up process. The full display must always appear. If there is no visible damage on the pump and rechargeable battery, you can restart treatment. Always use a new reservoir and new infusion set. If your Pump is damaged, contact Customer Services.

Can I exercise/ do sports with the D-mine® Pump?

Ensure that the needle is correctly placed in your skin and that the pump is firmly attached to your body.  Small gym bags or running belts can provide better comfort during exercise.

Usually, the pump is detached before going to bed.

If you are wearing your D-mine® Pump overnight in line with your Physicians’ instructions, ensure you have enough Dacepton® medication so your therapy does not get interrupted in the night. General FAQ

How do I get hold of my medication?

There are different options available to get hold of your Dacepton®

You can get your Dacepton®, D-mine® Reservoirs and Infusion lines from your local pharmacy. You will need a prescription from your treating healthcare professional to hand into your chosen pharmacy.

Homecare (medication delivered to your home) must be agreed by your NHS Trust and is provided by our partner Alcura – your medication and ancillaries will be delivered to your home based on your prescription.

“I want to stop using Dacepton®

The decision to stop using Dacepton® should be discussed with your Healthcare Professional. Your symptoms may return upon stopping treatment. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your healthcare professional or your D-mine® Care nurse advisor.

What can I do to treat skin irritation?

Good hygiene and ensuring your hands and injection sites are kept clean when setting up the infusion will make sure you are less likely to contract any infections related to your treatment. Squeezing the puncture site after removal of the needle relaxes the tissue and can reduce the formation of nodules. Please consult your healthcare professional for more information.

Items you can purchase such as spikey balls, warm compresses or special cross tapes can also help stimulate blood flow in injection sites reducing any skin reactions.

You can massage with ointments or oils which reduce inflammation around the site and risk of haematoma.
